Excerpt of an interview with Armando Peralta, from the Virginia Humanities sponsored project Son Jarocho: New Sones From an Emerging Virginia Culture. This interview reflects on the nistalgia of ones home country that is braught on by virginias nature, it’s mountians and beauty that sometimes causes flashbacks of home. The Peralta-Manzanares family laughs about how home is always in the heart of an immigrant and that even the shapes of clouds take them back to their birthland.

This clip, created in December 2018, features Abby and Javier Peralta, two cousins, who grew up in Luray, discussing how their parents sacrifice and vision has inspired their desire to succeed.

Excerpt of an interview with Maria Peralta-Manzanares (husband Israel, sister Nicolasa and brother-in-law Armando), from the Virginia Humanities sponsored project Son Jarocho: New Sones From an Emerging Virginia Culture. We talk about food and recipes that help them pass down a love of Mexican traditions to their children. Chiles en ogadas, is a traditional dish from Puebla Mexico that was an inspiration for one of the new sones we wrote for this project.
